AI will not write a new Tchaikovsky symphony: IMEMO RAS explained why art remains the domain of humans

A neural network is capable of imitating a composer's style, but not conveying its emotional depth

Artificial intelligence will be able to write a \"new Tchaikovsky symphony,\" but it will remain an imitation. This was stated to RIA \"Novosti\" by Nataliya Romashkina, head of the Information Security Problems Group at IMEMO RAS.

Romashkina recalled the words of conductor Yuri Bashmet that artificial intelligence is not capable of creating Tchaikovsky's Sixth \"Pathétique\" Symphony.

I think it will not be able to create the Sixth, since it has already been written, but the Seventh, Eighth, and so on, perhaps it will be able to, if the corresponding basic source data are embedded in it. But it will still be imitation.
Nataliya Romashkina, head of the Information Security Problems Group at IMEMO RAS

The expert added that the rapid introduction of AI technologies makes human qualities associated with creativity and emotions especially valuable. In the future, according to her, the \"ability to propose unconventional ideas and make unconventional decisions\" will be in demand. It is precisely such people, Romashkina emphasized, who make real discoveries.

Creativity based on emotions and intuition remains unattainable for algorithms. Therefore, artists, composers, and writers with genuine talent will not lose their significance even in the era of artificial intelligence.
