Kolomensky Zavod completed the medium overhaul of four 21-26DG diesel generators and shipped them to Bryansk Machine-Building Plant. The units are intended for installation on 2TE25A "Vityaz" mainline freight diesel locomotives.
The 21-26DG diesel generators are a component of the power plant, developing 3,400 hp. Thanks to this, the diesel locomotives are capable of hauling trains weighing more than 6,500 tonnes. The system's efficiency is increased by an asynchronous main electric transmission, while reliable power supply is ensured precisely by these engines.
Among the key features of the 21-26DG is an electronic pulse fuel injection system that guarantees precise fuel metering to reduce consumption and emissions. In addition, an electronic air bypass control system is installed, optimizing the flow between the compressor and turbine to increase the overall efficiency of the unit.
To date, the plant has already repaired and delivered 10 such diesel generators to the customer. Each overhaul extends the equipment's service life, increasing its reliability under the intensive conditions of freight main lines.
