A top-level explosion was recorded on the Sun on February 4. This was reported by the IKI and ISZF Laboratory.
An X4.2-level flare occurred at 15:13 Moscow time in sunspot group 4366 (N16E04), directly opposite Earth.
The flare is the third strongest of 2025 and 2026.
The most powerful explosion, X8.1, was recorded on February 2. It had no impact on Earth. Second place in the ranking of powerful flares went to the X5.1 event of November 11, 2025.
Specialists from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of IKI and ISZF reported that if the ejection of plasma into space from its epicenter is confirmed, then with such a position and power, a strong impact on Earth cannot be ruled out.
