Russian Railways Tested the Contact Network of the Future HSR-1 "Moscow - St. Petersburg" in Emergency Mode

A wire break was simulated at the test site in Shcherbinka, sensors were checked, and restoration technology was tested

Russian Railways conducted tests of the contact network of the future high-speed railway in emergency mode due to a wire break.

At the experimental section of the Experimental Ring of the All-Russian Railway Research Institute in Shcherbinka, specialists simulated the burnout of the contact wire and monitored the condition of the network using sensors of the monitoring system. They analyzed the loads on the contact suspension and identified nodes that receive damage during an accident.

Electricians tested the restoration technology using a prototype of the contact wire connecting clamp. The contact network for HSR in Russia was created for the first time; tests are needed to confirm operational characteristics and ensure safety.

The full cycle of tests is planned to be completed in the spring of 2026.
