SJ-100 Lands in India Ahead of Wings India Launch

Russian regional jet overcomes a challenging route over the mountains of Central Asia through six countries

The SJ-100 aircraft, developed by PJSC Yakovlev (part of the United Aircraft Corporation of the Rostec State Corporation), has successfully completed its flight from Russia to India. The aircraft arrived at the airfield in Hyderabad, where it will participate in the international aviation exhibition Wings India, which starts on January 28, 2026.

The flight was performed by a crew of four specialists: Honored Test Pilot of the Russian Federation, Hero of Russia Leonid Chikunov (commander of the aircraft), test pilots Igor Grevtsev and Alexander Verkhov, as well as leading test engineer Alexander Krylov.

The route ran over the difficult high-mountain regions of Central and South Asia — through the airspace of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. According to the crew commander, all stages of the flight proceeded as normal, without deviations.

As Leonid Chikunov noted after landing, the equipment demonstrated high reliability: all domestic onboard systems functioned stably and ensured the safety and comfort of the flight throughout the entire route.
