Scientists baffled: a powerful double explosion occurred on the far side of the Sun on December 23

It was believed that this region of the star was almost devoid of activity

A powerful double explosion occurred on the far side of the Sun on December 23. This was reported by the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of IKI and ISZF.

Specialists noted that not a single satellite was able to record this event. For now, scientists are relying on indirect data.

Not long ago, researchers believed that this region of the star was almost devoid of activity. Against the background of the flare, three planets visually \"appeared adjacent\" to the Sun at that moment — Venus and Mercury on the left, and Mars on the right.

In reality, the strike on the first two planets is an optical illusion. Both bodies are currently far beyond the Sun on the side opposite Earth, while the plasma clouds moved noticeably to the side.

If the centers of activity that caused the explosion persist for five days, they can be observed from Earth. In that case, the Sun will rotate, and the active regions will appear on its left edge. This will make it possible to conduct more accurate studies.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that the Sun absorbed the largest cluster of spots.
