Ufa-based company UEC-UMPO won a lawsuit against Canadian company Pratt & Whitney Canada International Inc. in a case involving the supply of aircraft engine parts. The Arbitration Court in Bashkiria granted the claim for the recovery of 692.2 thousand dollars (about 54.2 million rubles).
UEC-UMPO and Pratt & Whitney in 2019 concluded a contract for the supply of power plant components for aircraft. In March 2022, Pratt & Whitney stopped communicating and refused to pay for already delivered parts.
The instance indicated that sanctions do not exempt Pratt & Whitney Canada International Inc. from paying for already delivered products, and confirmed the jurisdiction of Russian courts in such disputes.
Partner at a.t.Legal law firm, Alexander Pavlovsky, noted that quick payments on the claim should not be expected. The human rights activist reminded that the decision can only be enforced if the defendant has assets in jurisdictions where the court decision is recognized.
In Canada and a number of unfriendly countries, this path is now practically blocked.
As a reminder, UEC-UMPO produces engines for the operational-tactical aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces, including Su-57, Su-35, and Su-34 fighters.
In December 2025, the company won a lawsuit against the SOGAZ group for 25 million rubles. In January 2026, UEC-UMPO lost a case to the Federal Penitentiary Service for 15.8 million rubles for inaction in recovering funds from the debtor.
