Zhatay Shipyard in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is significantly expanding its production capacity. In addition to traditional shipbuilding, the company will begin producing a wide range of metal structures — including road bridges, pontoons and dredgers. This was announced by the Minister of Transport and Road Facilities of Yakutia, Vladimir Sivtsev.
According to him, this year the shipyard launched a ferry for the first time in modern history, built by order of the Suntarsky district. This practice, according to the minister, will be continued in subsequent years, which indicates the revival of domestic shipbuilding in the region.
Yakut authorities proposed including the Zhatay Shipyard in federal shipbuilding support programs. After the visit of the Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Marine Board Nikolai Patrushev, these proposals were reflected in the instructions of the Secretary of the Marine Board and in the report submitted to the head of state.
Sivtsev emphasized that expanding the company's profile will help improve the region's infrastructure and provide local production of important facilities. In the near future, it is planned to form an order for the manufacture of road bridges, pontoon structures and repair of dredgers. The Minister hopes that this work will be completed before the start of navigation.
