The Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant (NEVZ), part of Transmashholding, has completed a key stage of technological independence — all of its products are officially included in the Register of Russian Industrial Products of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
To achieve this result, the plant's engineers and designers had to completely revise and modernize the existing technical documentation, adapting it to the requirements of full localization.
NEVZ remains one of the core enterprises of the Russian transport industry: more than 65% of railway transportation in the country is carried out by locomotives produced at this plant. In addition to mainline and passenger models, the company also supplies electric locomotives for the needs of the mining and metallurgical industries.
Today, the plant produces the following products:
- «Ermak» series AC mainline freight electric locomotives — the most massive series on the Russian Railways network, produced in configurations from two to four sections;
- EP1M passenger electric locomotives designed to transport people on alternating current;
- NP1 traction units used as part of specialized trains;
- NPM2M DC industrial electric locomotives operated at heavy industry enterprises.
The plant's immediate plans include mastering the production of new AC mainline electric locomotives equipped with asynchronous traction motors, as well as developing and launching a series of dual-system passenger electric locomotives capable of operating on both AC and DC power.
