The Mayak plant in Kirov (part of the Kalashnikov concern) will begin using collaborative robots (cobots) in 2026 to increase equipment utilization in the mechanical workshop, the concern's press service reported.
Cobots are automated devices for collaborative work with humans, combining elements of traditional robotics and advanced technologies of sensor technology, machine learning, and adaptive control.
Cobots can operate in an open work area without fencing. The equipment reduces the load on employees and provides flexibility in production processes.
Technical Director of "Mayak" Leonid Kunitsyn stated that this is the first such experience for the factory workers. The management will assess the specifics of setting up and maintaining cobots, as well as the economic effect of their use, he concluded.
