Workers at the "Nobel Brothers Shipyard" (Rybinsk, Yaroslavl region) have begun building ice-resistant ship hulls on the crab catchers-live carriers "Beluga" and "Kashalot" (project 6135). This was reported by the press service of the "Kalashnikov" concern.
The vessels will be equipped with modern equipment for catching crab with "Japanese"-type conical traps, followed by sorting, weighing and transporting 80–100 tons of products in tanks with cooled seawater.
"Beluga" and "Kashalot" are designed for year-round live crab fishing in the Far East. These are the first crab catchers fully designed in Russia.
Characteristics of project 6135 vessels:
• Length — 61.35 m
• Width — 13 m
• Empty displacement — 1596.5 t
• Number of tanks — 6
• Crew — 26 people
• Speed — 12 knots
The crab catchers are being built under the investment program "Quotas for Keels" at the "Nobel Brothers Shipyard" (part of the Kalashnikov concern). Construction of the vessels began in April 2024. Their transfer to the customer, Vostok LLC, is scheduled for 2027-2028.
