Azur Air Opens Emergency Rescue Training Center at Vnukovo, Training on Boeing 757 and 767 Simulators

Unique fire simulator teaches how to evacuate the pilot and extinguish fires on board the aircraft

Azur Air is launching a new Emergency Rescue Training Center (ERT) at its own Personnel Training Center in Vnukovo. Starting today, the airline's pilots and flight attendants will undergo the annual "Land" program, practicing passenger evacuation skills on land and extinguishing fires in various areas of the aircraft.

The center is equipped with real Boeing 757 and 767 doors — former aircraft that the airline's specialists restored and turned into working simulators. Flight attendants will be able to practice opening and closing doors, which requires significant physical effort. Evacuation slides are installed at a height corresponding to real aircraft to simulate emergency evacuation from the aircraft.

Special attention is paid to the fire simulator, where fire extinguishing procedures are practiced in different parts of the aircraft. Even a metal mock-up of a tablet is used for training, which is relevant due to the increasing number of lithium battery fires. Another unique element is the Boeing 757/767 simulator, on which flight attendants learn to evacuate an incapacitated pilot from the cockpit. This is the only such simulator in Russia and one of three in the world.

The Azur Air training program combines distance learning of theory and a one-day practical course. It is approved by Rosaviatsiya and included in the appendix to the ATC certificate. The goal is to improve flight safety and the quality of crew training, providing relevant skills for working in emergency situations.

Azur Air is the largest charter carrier in the Russian Federation, operating mainly with Turkish and Egyptian destinations.
