Azur Air may consider updating its fleet with Tu-214 aircraft. This was announced by the carrier's CEO, Evgeny Korolev.
He noted that from a technical specialist's point of view, he cannot say anything bad about the Tu-214.
Given our experience operating Boeing 757/767, we are considering the Tu-214 from the line of modern domestic aircraft. As soon as the aircraft goes into production and is provided with spare parts, we are ready to operate it intensively.
Korolev added that the Tu-214 can be operated on the airline's existing route network.
It was previously reported that the Tatarstan-based airline "UVT Aero" abandoned waiting for the Tu-214 and intends to focus on import-substituted "Superjets" and Il-114-300.
Rostec also stated that a large-scale modernization of production is underway at the Kazan Aviation Plant named after Gorbunov (KAZ, part of PJSC "Tupolev") to increase the production of Tu-214.
