Deadlines shifted: Ministry of Industry and Trade explained the situation with the restoration of Tu-204

The process required additional work on the complete import substitution of individual components

Extending the deadlines for restoring the airworthiness of two Tu-204 aircraft will not require additional funding. The aircraft will be delivered to customers within the next two years, the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade reported.

Prior to this, the department published a draft decree according to which the deadline for the completion and restoration of airworthiness of some aircraft in Russia was postponed from 2024 to 2027.

The document in question provides for the extension of deadlines for the two remaining Tu-204s, which will be delivered to operators in 2026-2027, without allocating additional funding.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade also noted that the revision of the deadlines is due to the fact that the restoration process required additional work on the complete import substitution of individual components.

Rostec added that a project to restore the airworthiness of 12 aircraft began in 2022. In particular, we are talking about nine aircraft of the Tu-204-214 family, two Il-96s and one An-148. Enterprises have already restored 10 aircraft.
