The S-500 Prometheus is a new generation long-range air defense system capable of intercepting targets even in near space.

In December 2024, Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov announced the completion of the formation of the first regiment equipped with the S-500 system.

It should be noted that Russia has not officially sold the S-500 Prometheus to any foreign country. The complex is classified as a strategic defense asset of Russia, and supplies require approval at the highest level.

Military expert Oleg Glazunov stated that with the development of the Prometheus, Russia overtook the United States by 50 years in the development of air defense systems.
