Astronomers recorded a double flare on the Sun on December 6. This was reported by the press service of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the IKI and ISZF.
After several days of calm, strong class M flares were recorded in area 4299 (formerly 4274) of the Sun.
The first of the two flares is classified as M1.1 (maximum at 22:21 Moscow time), the second as M8.1 (maximum at 23:39).
Solar flares are divided into five classes — A, B, C, M and X. They are classified according to the power of X-ray radiation. The minimum class A0.0 corresponds to a radiation power in Earth orbit of 10 nanowatts per sq. m.
Earlier www1.ru reported that a powerful class X1.8 flare occurred on the Sun — the first in five months.
