An unusual project called "Lai-fi" was presented in Yekaterinburg. Now, free Wi-Fi in the city is provided by homeless dogs.
The project is implemented by Hot Singles studio in collaboration with the "ZooZashita" foundation and the "Motiv" telecom operator. It aims to draw attention to the problem of homeless animals.
To implement the project, small backpacks with the necessary equipment are attached to the dogs' backs. The authors assure that this equipment does not bother the animals.
These "living" access points can provide internet speeds up to 100 Mbps. The project website states that it is in the beta testing phase, and users can order a specific dog — there are only three such animals — Eva, Rex, and Jack. However, it is not entirely clear what "order" implies and how delivery will be organized.
It is likely that the initiative will not be permanent. But the idea itself looks interesting and represents a social experiment that combines advertising and an art project.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that deputies proposed creating a network of access points to support the economy in the event of mobile communication disruptions.
