Aviation may take a back seat after the launch of the high-speed railway (HSR-1) Moscow - St. Petersburg. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Vitaly Savelyev.

According to Vitaly Savelyev, the need for flights will still remain.

The first high-speed rail (HSR-1) will connect St. Petersburg and Moscow. Trains will run at 15-minute intervals. The launch of the first branch of the new railway is scheduled for 2028.

Passenger traffic between St. Petersburg and Moscow is expected to be about 23 million people by 2030.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that testing of the KS-400 contact network for high-speed trains has started.
