Work on new high-speed railway lines (HSR) in Russia has already begun, according to the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, Roman Starovoit.
We are already working on the routes Moscow — Minsk, Moscow — Adler, Moscow — Ryazan, Moscow — Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Yekaterinburg. Even on the pilot section today, not only the six constituent entities of the Russian Federation through which the route from Moscow to St. Petersburg will pass are involved, but also 23 regions, in which about 150 enterprises are participating.
The first high-speed railway (HSR-1) will connect St. Petersburg and Moscow. The project is designed for passenger traffic and will pass through six Russian regions: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Leningrad, Novgorod, Tver, and Moscow regions. Trains on this line will run at 15-minute intervals.
By 2030, the passenger traffic between St. Petersburg and Moscow is expected to be about 23 million people per year. Approximately 120 domestic enterprises are involved in the project.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that Russian Railways will launch additional freight trains thanks to the HSR.
