New technologies transform the MC-21 and SJ 100 into next-generation aircraft

Zhukovsky Institute scientists set the development vector, promoting breakthrough solutions in the aviation industry

Today, Russia is effectively rebuilding a full range of competencies in civil aviation — a process that experts call unique in global practice. Andrey Dutov, General Director of the NRC "Zhukovsky Institute," emphasized that returning technological leadership is impossible without qualitative superiority over existing solutions, but the main goal is not competition, but ensuring strategic national tasks.

There is no point in focusing only on traditional concepts and solutions in aircraft construction. Their perfection has reached its limits.

According to Dutov, domestic engineers are already fulfilling this task: new Russian technologies have been introduced into the import-substituted MC-21 and SJ 100, which actually turn them into new generation aircraft. At the same time, according to the head of the institute, the industry has reached the limit of development of classical structural and technological solutions.

A technological breakthrough is possible only with the transition to new technological structures, and this is exactly what Russian scientific schools are now betting on, focusing on promising areas and breakthrough developments of the future.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the fifth-generation 177S engine for tactical aircraft will be demonstrated in the Middle East for the first time.
