Russian military personnel have figured out how to use Soviet BMP-1s in modern combat conditions. They dismantled the 73-mm gun turrets to speed up the dismounting of troops, effectively turning them into light APCs.
As a light weapon, the "Frankenstein" has a PKT machine gun, and a traditional "barbecue" made of dense rebar is placed above the hull.
Thus, the military, with their own ingenuity, turned the outdated BMP-1s into a simple tracked armored personnel carrier for the front line.
It is worth noting that the standard armor of the BMP-1, or, as the military themselves call it, the "kopeyka", can only protect the crew from small arms bullets and shrapnel.
The addition of steel sheets and grates turns it into a kind of "hybrid" between an armored personnel carrier and a super-light tank without a supporting gun - a cheap and quick solution that has already proven its effectiveness.
