Power unit brought to 100% capacity after modernization and maintenance work

Unit No. 7 at Novovoronezh NPP has completed scheduled maintenance with modernization elements, representatives of the nuclear power plant reported. On the morning of November 3, the power unit was brought to 100% capacity after scheduled maintenance, which began on October 4.

As part of the repair, NPP specialists, together with the contractor Atomenergoreмонт, carried out current, intermediate and major repairs of the main and auxiliary equipment. Part of the spent fuel cassettes were replaced with fresh ones, the cooling tower bowl and sprinklers were cleaned with partial replacement of structures.

In addition, the automatic control and turbine protection systems were modernized, the cooling tower support beams were strengthened, and a sprinkler weight monitoring system was introduced, which signals the need for chemical cleaning or replacement of the beams.

According to Maxim Tuchkov, Deputy Chief Engineer for the 4th stage of the Novovoronezh NPP, the work is aimed at improving the reliability and operational safety of the power unit.

Currently, power units No. 4, 5, 6 and 7 are operating normally, the total load of the station is 3746 MW. The radiation background near the station corresponds to natural background values for the Voronezh region.
