Россия заработает миллиарды долларов для авиапрома производством SJ-100 за границей

The country will also strengthen its influence in South Asia

The joint production project of SJ-100 aircraft in India will strengthen Russia's position in the Asian aircraft industry market and help earn billions of dollars for the development of its own aerospace industry. This was stated by Ivan Grachev, Chief Researcher at the Central Economics and Mathematics Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

SJ-100

According to him, the Indian market will be a chance to recoup the development of new models and technologies. Domestic demand alone is not enough for the development of aviation. At the same time, India has a billion-dollar population and a growing need for aircraft.

As part of the new project, it is planned to build 200 SJ-100 aircraft with a total value of about 20 billion dollars in the coming years. A significant part of these funds will go to Russia, which will be direct support for its aviation industry.
Ivan Grachev, Chief Researcher at CEMI RAS

Grachev added that India cannot independently produce engines and key aircraft systems. Russia has the necessary technologies, including for the PD-8 engine, which completely replaced Western counterparts.

India still has no one to build aircraft with except Russia. China abandoned the joint project, counting on Western engines, but the United States suspended their supply this summer.
Ivan Grachev, Chief Researcher at CEMI RAS

According to Indian estimates, the country will need about 2.2 thousand aircraft by 2035. In the last two years alone, India's largest airlines have ordered more than a thousand units worth 100 billion dollars.
