Strong flares have been recorded on the Sun after a two-week break. This was reported by the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI RAN).
At night, around 4 a.m. Moscow time, an M1.0 level flare occurred on the eastern edge of the star, belonging to the fourth (strong) activity class on the 5-level scale used in solar physics. The flare was observed for about 11 minutes from 03:26 to 03:37 Moscow time.
Experts predict a surge in solar activity with a peak between October 3rd and 9th. Two powerful magnetic centers have appeared on the visible edge of the star. They are capable of triggering a series of new flares.
Earlier www1.ru reported that astronomers recorded a series of powerful X-class flares on the far side of the Sun.
