The fully import-substituted MC-21 will take to the skies in October 2025. This was announced by Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov at a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes.
This month, we plan to raise the first fully import-substituted MC-21.
Rostec noted on June 26, 2025, that the first prototype of the MC-21 aircraft with Russian systems and components had begun certification tests.
The CEO of the state corporation, Sergey Chemezov, said two months ago that the first flight of the fully import-substituted MC-21 was expected in August. Alikhanov also said that the plane would take to the skies in August.
The day before, the head of Rosaviatsiya, Dmitry Yadrov, noted that the MC-21 has not yet replaced five foreign-made systems. These include the icing system, water-vacuum system, collision avoidance system, weather radar, and power supply. According to him, the liner will be certified in 2026.
