Specialists from the Military Academy of the Strategic Missile Forces named after Peter the Great have created a prototype of a reusable rocket booster stage. This follows from the document accompanying the patent.
The invention relates to the field of rocket and space technology, in particular to a reusable rocket booster stage, and can be used in research and development work to create rocket booster stages, transport spacecraft, reusable aircraft flying in a wide range of speeds along a return trajectory, at the stage of flight tests.
The demonstrator design includes a body with ring tanks for fuel and oxidizer, a fuel component supply system, and a sustainer propulsion system with thrust vector control. A liquid propulsion system located in a separate landing unit is used for maneuvering relative to the center of mass. The body is also equipped with landing and loading/installation mechanisms.
The Russian device is the closest analogue to the American Falcon 9 FT, and it will allow testing the stage design, onboard systems, and autonomous landing in the altitude range up to 100 km and speeds up to Mach 4.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the Earth's satellite, the Moon, may become the first space platform for atomic energy.
