The Egyptian authorities have started negotiations with Rosatom on the possible construction of a small nuclear power plant (NPP). This was announced by the head of the country's Ministry of Energy, Mahmoud Esmat, at the World Atomic Week international forum in Moscow.
As soon as we receive all the information, we will proceed to the next stage to determine the capacity in accordance with the needs of Egypt.
Rosatom began construction of the first El Dabaa NPP in Egypt in 2022. Nuclear scientists will build four power units of 1200 MW each.
The head of Rosatom, Alexey Likhachev, on September 25 launched the shipment of the VVER-1200 reactor for El Dabaa. The station is scheduled to be commissioned in 2028.
