The Russian Ministry of Defense will close the airspace over the Kapustin Yar test site in the Astrakhan region, according to a NOTAM (NOtice To Air Missions) notification.
The flight ban is valid from Monday, September 22, to Friday, September 27. The military department has not yet commented on the situation.
Kapustin Yar is a missile range in the northeastern part of the Astrakhan region. The facility was opened in 1946 as the State Central Test Site of the Ministry of Armed Forces of the USSR for testing missile weapons - the first Soviet anti-aircraft and ballistic missiles.
According to data from open sources, the first launch in history of the Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) was carried out from Kapustin Yar.
Earlierwww1.ru reported that the frigate "Admiral Golovko" launched a hypersonic "Zircon" in the Barents Sea with the guidance of the Tu-142.
