In Vladivostok, a fare payment system based on geolocation has been launched in public transport since September 4, 2025. The innovation was presented by Sber and the City Administration at the X Eastern Economic Forum (EEF-2025). Residents can pay for trips via smartphone without using cards or cash.
To pay, the passenger needs to select a route in the mapping service, specify the arrival time of the transport, and confirm the payment. Funds are debited from the linked bank card, after which an electronic ticket is generated. The system is already operating on routes connecting Russky Island with the mainland of the city, and by the end of 2025 it will be implemented in all municipal transport of Vladivostok.
According to Sber, the technology speeds up boarding transport by 30% during peak hours, increasing convenience for passengers. In addition to the new method, public transport also supports other forms of payment: bank cards, transport cards, virtual cards, and QR codes.
EEF-2025 takes place in Vladivostok from September 3 to 6 and is dedicated to innovation and the development of the Far East. The geolocation payment technology is part of the city's transport infrastructure modernization program.
