Голосовой трафик в мобильных сетях России вырос на 20–30% после ограничения звонков в мессенджерах

Experts believe that by the end of the year, subscribers' communication costs may increase by an average of 7%

After the restriction of voice calls in Telegram and WhatsApp messengers, subscribers of Russian mobile operators began to use regular mobile communications more often. According to the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation, in August, the volume of voice traffic in networks increased by 20–30%.

According to information from the T2 telecom operator, the average growth in voice traffic across the country was about 9%, and in some regions the figure reached 30%. Experts note that the increased load sometimes leads to short-term connection failures when dialing, since networks, especially older 2G and 3G standards, are not designed for such a volume of calls.

According to the analytical company TelecomDaily, telephone traffic in Russia has increased by 15–20% over the past two weeks, with 40% of these calls being long-distance and international. Experts believe that by the end of the year, subscribers' communication costs may increase by an average of 7% due to more active use of paid services.

The Ministry of Digital Development stated that work on the development of communication networks, including in small settlements and on highways, is being carried out systematically. According to the department, about 7% of the Russian population still does not have stable access to mobile communications. Telecom operators, including T2, say they have no plans to increase the cost of tariffs, as the current minute packages are designed for the increased load.
