The weapon was transferred to the Museum of the History of Shlisselburg

In Vyborg, restoration of a 17th-century cannon raised from the bottom of the Vyborg Bay has begun. This was announced by Governor Alexander Drozdenko.

The artifact was delivered to the Museum of the History of Shlisselburg in a badly damaged condition: corrosion concealed the shape and decor of the weapon. Specialists carried out restoration work, as a result of which inscriptions appeared on the surface: «Pishchal… length 2 arshins without 6 vershoks…».

The governor said that a master's mark was also found during cleaning — an image of a cross in herbs. According to this mark, experts attributed the cannon to the master Voin Loginov (1620–1655).

The reasons and time the weapon ended up at the bottom of the bay have not yet been established; historians continue their research.
