An unmanned truck has completed its first trip from St. Petersburg to Kazan, with only engineers in the cabin, RIA Novosti reported on June 18, 2025, citing Navio (formerly SberAutoTech).
The autonomous truck covered 1,600 kilometers in 24 hours. The route passed along the M-11 Neva high-speed highway, the A-113 Central Ring Road (TsKAD), and the M-12 Vostok. The vehicle uses computer vision to detect obstacles on the road and displays them in the system, including nearby moving cars, and also determines the number of lanes for oncoming and passing traffic.
A regular trip from St. Petersburg to Kazan takes about 58 hours due to the driver's compliance with work and rest schedules. The test showed that an autonomous truck can reduce delivery time by almost 2.5 times over similar distances.
The movement of unmanned trucks was opened on the M-11 Neva in June 2023, and on the Central Ring Road in April 2025. In 2026, it is planned to launch them on the M-12 Vostok. By the end of 2025, the fleet of robotic trucks in Russia could reach 100 vehicles.
