The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) and the United Engine Corporation (UEC) have begun adapting the latest PD-8 aircraft engine for the SJ-100 "Superjet" to the Be-200 amphibious aircraft, according to Yuri Slyusar, acting governor of the Rostov region.
The head of the region recalled that the Be-200 is effectively used to extinguish large fires both in Russia and abroad. In particular, the crews participated in extinguishing fires in the Khabarovsk and Trans-Baikal Territories, as well as in Algeria and southern Turkey.
Work on adapting the PD-8 engine for the Be-200 aircraft has already begun. We see that the PD-8 engine is actively undergoing testing on the Superjet. It shows good results, and there are prospects for its "marinization" for the Be-200. The aircraft is needed both in our country and abroad.
Slyusar added that the Be-200 is in very high demand, and Russia has every opportunity to produce a sufficient number of such aircraft.
Currently, the Be-200s fly with D-436 engines. The thrust of the basic version of the PD-8 is better than the D-436, at 8.056 versus 7.500 kgf. The upgrade of the units will improve the flight performance of the Be-200.
Earlier www1.ru reported that a major general of aviation called the plans to build 100 MS-21 aircraft by 2030 unrealistic
