The Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA) explained how the new VK-800 turboprop engine is designed. The company conductedthe first test flight on the Yak-40 "flying laboratory."
The VK-800 has a standard design - a centrifugal compressor, a counterflow combustion chamber, a single-stage compressor turbine, and a two-stage free turbine.
JSC "Ural Civil Aviation Plant" is developing the VK-800 under a contract with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia for such UZGA projects as the LMS-901 "Baikal" light multi-purpose aircraft, the UTS-800 training aircraft, the Russian-Belarusian regional LMS-192 "Osvey" aircraft, and the re-motorization of localized L-410 aircraft.
