The SR2 "Veresk" submachine gun (SMG), which was adopted 25 years ago, is still in demand. The anniversary of the weapon was announced by the Kalashnikov concern (part of Rostec).
"Veresk" was adopted by the FSB of Russia exactly 25 years ago, on July 14, 2000. The weapon was developed at the Central Research Institute for Precision Machine Engineering (TsNIITochMash).
The model is in great demand among law enforcement agencies and is currently, the concern noted. TsNIITochMash continues serial production of modernized versions of the submachine gun - SR2M and SR2MP.
The compact weapon chambered for the 9x21 millimeter cartridge is distinguished by good penetrating power and a high rate of fire. "Veresk" can hit unarmored vehicles and manpower in personal protective equipment. The submachine gun is used in combat at ranges up to 200 meters.
"Veresk" is equipped with a collimator sight KP-SR2, developed specifically for the submachine gun as part of the Veresk-P development work.
