Serial production of the PD-8 engine for the domestic Superjet 100 aircraft will start in 2025, the Rostec State Corporation said.
The PD-8 is being created by the United Engine Corporation (UEC, part of Rostec).
The power plant is scheduled to be launched into serial production as early as 2025. Next year, the corporation is ready to make 30 engines of this type.
The prototype Superjet aircraft with domestic PD-8 engines made its first flight in March. Alexander Grachev, General Director of UEC, noted that the type certificate for the PD-8 engine is scheduled to be obtained in the fall of this year.
About the engine
The PD-8 two-circuit turbofan engine with a thrust of 8 tons for the Superjet passenger aircraft and the Be-200 amphibious aircraft was created using advanced technologies and new Russian materials. A wide cooperation of UEC enterprises was involved in the work, and the experience of creating the PD-14 engine is actively used.
Earlier www1.ru reported that UEC will sharply increase the production of aircraft engines.
