A unified center for the repair of marine diesel engines is planned to be established in St. Petersburg. This was announced by Mikhail Danilenko, Managing Director of the Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant (KMZ) military-industrial holding.
In the near future, we are trying to coordinate a program to launch a unified ship repair and service center, specifically for the repair of marine diesel engines, in order to combine all competencies for the repair of all marine engines related to military topics and, as much as possible, the civilian market.
The new center will combine all the necessary competencies for the repair of various marine engines. This will reduce the cost of services, increase the speed and quality of repairs, and concentrate all skills in one location.
In addition, KMZ is negotiating cooperation with JSC "United Shipbuilding Corporation" (USC). As part of this partnership, the plant may become a base platform for the production of import-substituting low-speed high-power engines. Danilenko noted that KMZ may become part of USC by the end of the summer of 2025. Such an engine is necessary for the implementation of USC's strategy to increase its own competencies in the design and construction of large-capacity transport ships for the merchant fleet.
