In Russia, there has been another increase in cases of fraudulent calls from people posing as employees of postal services. This was reported by Anton Nemkin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications, and federal coordinator of the "Digital Russia" party project.
Recently, there has been a surge in fraudulent calls masquerading as postal service employees.
According to the parliamentarian, fraudsters often call on behalf of the sorting center of "Russian Post". They inform the subscriber about a parcel or a delivery error. Then, the attackers offer to go to a chat bot in Telegram, where you need to "clarify the data" or "confirm your identity". To do this, it is proposed to use "Gosuslugi" or "Post ID".
At this stage, the theft of personal data begins.
The "Post ID" platform is an identification service associated with "Russian Post". However, official representatives of the department do not use third-party chat bots for authorization.
Fraudsters create fake bots and fake authorization pages that are visually identical to the real ones. When you enter your username and password from "Gosuslugi", the data instantly goes to the attackers, who can then access your profile.
According to him, schemes based on social engineering are especially dangerous. The victim is frightened, rushed and an illusion of officialdom is created. To do this, they spoof phone numbers, imitate voice auto-informers or interfaces of state portals.
People, not expecting a trick, voluntarily disclose confidential information, which makes such attacks especially effective.
The deputy warned that "Russian Post", "Gosuslugi" and other government agencies never contact citizens through chat bots in messengers. If you receive a message asking you to log in via links in Telegram, it may be a scam.
If you receive such a call, immediately end the conversation. Do not follow links and do not report your logins and passwords. For additional protection, change your passwords regularly and check the activity in your account. If you have already entered data on an unreliable site, urgently change your password and report the incident to the "Gosuslugi" support service.
Recently, there have been more frequent cases of fraud targeting Russians looking for work. According to information received from DLBI, a service that analyzes vulnerabilities and data leaks, in May and June 2025, six new fraudulent schemes were discovered that pose a danger to users.
