The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia is considering the idea of obliging foreign automakers to use Russian components when localizing production in the country. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov, at a meeting of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy.
Regarding the obligation, including for our Chinese partners who are now entering with localization projects, <...> we intend to introduce the mandatory use of a number of components produced in Russia.
Earlier, the minister stated that the Ministry of Industry and Trade would introduce additional requirements to increase localization points through the use of polymer materials in Russian cars.
Earlier it became known that the requirements for localization of cars in Russia may include the use of domestic paint for the body.
