TsAGI developers aim to recreate the kinematics and dynamics of bird and insect flight in it

Engineers at the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after N. E. Zhukovsky (TsAGI) are developing advanced aircraft based on new methods of locomotion, according to TsAGI's Scientific Director, Sergei Chernyshev.

According to him, alternative developments are popular among young specialists. TsAGI has created a technology park for these purposes — an innovative platform for developing projects in the field of high technology.

Among such developments, one can cite devices based on the principle of a flapping wing. In them, developers strive to recreate the kinematics and dynamics of bird and insect flight.

Another example Chernyshev cited is a device that engineers jokingly call the "flying saucepan." The device has no bottom, and there is a propeller inside.

It was created as a technology demonstrator for an unmanned aerial vehicle to assist in the maintenance of high-altitude technological equipment and other purposes.
