The main obstacle to the serial production of Tu-214 at the Kazan Aviation Plant (KAZ) is the lack of sufficient experience among engineers. This was reported by the Technosphere Russia publication.
In 2024, KAZ recruited almost 2,000 new employees, but this did not solve the personnel problem.
Plus, the main obstacle is that Kazan does not yet have experience in assembling a large number of modern passenger aircraft. That is, money cannot always solve any problem.
Since 2011, the plant has produced an average of 1-2 aircraft per year, during which time everything has been formed and sharpened for such volumes.
And now we also need to "reflash" our heads - serial production of a large aircraft requires a modern assembly line, the availability of constant stocks of components for at least several machines, and the availability of a serious system of work with personnel.
Meanwhile, at the Kazan Aviation Plant in June 2025, the next two aircraft after RA-64536 are already in aggregate assembly and "80% of rolled metal for the Tu-214 program is already in warehouses".
Earlier www1.ru reported that Tu-214 is alive, not dead: commercial deliveries of the aircraft will start in 2026.
