The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov, announced the expansion of Tu-214 production for Russian airlines. The demand for Il-96-300/400M is still undetermined, and the aircraft are only produced for special customers, he noted.
Currently, work is underway to increase the production of medium-range narrow-body Tu-214 aircraft for airlines.
As for wide-body long-range Il-96-300/400M aircraft, the demand for them among Russian carriers is still undetermined. These aircraft are manufactured exclusively for special customers.
The Minister added that the production of Tu-214 and Il-96-300 aircraft in Russia has not ceased and continues serially for state needs, including special purpose services, such as the SLO "Russia".
The Tu-214 aircraft is a medium-range passenger airliner developed in the late 1980s. It is equipped with modern, powerful, and economical PS-90A engines. The Il-96-300, in turn, is a wide-body long-range aircraft and can be operated at high-altitude airfields.
Earlier www1.ru reported that import-substituted parts for the SJ-100 will become cheaper, although they used to cost twice as much as those for Airbus.
