During a flight from Moscow to Batumi, a Superjet-100 aircraft experienced an engine cowl detachment mid-air. The footage went viral on social media.
The incident occurred right after takeoff from the airport. A piece of the skin fell off, and passengers saw the liner's engine internals. Due to the situation, the crew decided to return urgently.
Vnukovo Airport introduced the "blue" mode, signaling an emergency situation in flight and the need for an emergency landing. There were no casualties as a result of the incident.
The Superjet-100 is a narrow-body, short-haul aircraft designed for flights up to 5,000 km. The SJ-100 became the first civilian serial aircraft created in Russia after the collapse of the USSR.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the features of the "glass" cockpit of the MS-21 aircraft were revealed in the UAC.
