The Russian S-500 anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) can operate against targets in near space, according to military expert Oleg Glazunov.
According to him, this does not require new types of weapons such as kinetic weapons.
We can shoot down satellites with already known weapons, for example, with the S-500 anti-aircraft missile system, which operates in near space. It is likely that Russia also has kinetic weapons, but they simply don't publicize it. Perhaps they are being developed.
Glazunov noted that Russia is already 50 years ahead of the US in the creation of certain types of weapons.
All this allows us to conduct military operations in space, so space wars are really just around the corner. Technology is developing rapidly, and we can already shoot down and damage other people's satellites.
Characteristics of the S-500 "Prometheus" SAM System:
- Platform: mobile
- Target detection range: 800 kilometers
- Combat radius: 600 kilometers
- Number of missiles: 2-4 units
- Maximum speed of the target being hit: 7 km\/s
- Maximum target engagement altitude: 200 km
Earlier, the commander of the US Space Forces, General Chance Saltzman, stated that the Russian military allegedly launched what could be considered "kinetic weapons".
Earlier www1.ru reported that "Kalashnikov" presented the latest shortened AK-12K and AK-12SK assault rifles for the first time.
