Scooter riders in uniform: St. Petersburg proposed to issue scooters and drones to police officers

The initiative aims to combat offenders in urban environments

In St. Petersburg, it was proposed to transfer electric scooters to the police for work in the urban environment. Pavel Krupnik, a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the city, made such an initiative, sending a corresponding appeal to the Minister of Internal Affairs Vladimir Kolokoltsev.

According to Krupnik, employees of the patrol service and other units should be issued electric scooters or other mobile means capable of effectively pursuing offenders using individual transport in dense urban areas.

He also proposed considering the possibility of launching an unmanned patrol service using drones. This, he said, will reduce the burden on personnel and allow them to focus on combating crime and preventing violations.

Earlier, the Ministry of Transport announced the preparation of changes to the traffic rules, according to which users of individual means of transportation will be equated to drivers with established rights and obligations.
