Aviation expert assessed the safety of SJ-100: the reason for the liner's "teething problems" revealed

The aircraft became a "training desk" for Russian aviation

The fully import-substituted SJ-100 aircraft has become, in a sense, a "training desk" for the Russian aircraft industry. Various malfunctions in the operation of aircraft are associated with "teething problems", as well as the presence of foreign parts, said Roman Gusarov, editor-in-chief of Avia.ru portal.

There were various failures, but the most surprising thing is that these "teething problems" were associated with imported components. And our firm belief that everything is safe abroad turned out to be a delusion.

The specialist clarified that it was for this reason that the decision was made back in 2018 to implement a program to replace components with domestic ones.

The fully import-substituted SJ 100 with domestic PD-8 engines made its first flight in Komsomolsk-on-Amur on April 23. Certification tests will last until the end of this year. It is assumed that as early as 2026, the aircraft will be supplied to Russian airlines for further operation.

Earlier it became known that the import-substituted Superjet SJ-100 with PD-8 will perform more than 130 certification flights.
