Located at the entrance to Zhukovsky, the monument to the Tu-144 supersonic passenger aircraft has been moved to the "takeoff position" with the arrival of consistently warm weather.
The head of the city, Boris Aubakirov, noted after the ceremony that such a transfer has already become a tradition. With the arrival of consistently warm weather, the aircraft is moved to the "takeoff position" - the nose is lowered and the front horizontal tail is extended.
In 2025, the aircraft monument will be six years old, and during this period the airliner, the last of this model family to take to the sky, has become a real landmark of the Moscow region's science city.
The aircraft, which became a monument, flew 140 hours from 1981-1999, of which more than 40 hours were at supersonic speed. After the completion of its flight "career", the aircraft was based at the Flight Research Institute named after M. M. Gromov and in 2014 became the property of the city, having changed several owners before that. The airliner was installed in Zhukovsky in 2019.
Earlier www1.ru reported that ODK has started designing aircraft engines using domestic software.
