Russia, by developing the ultra-powerful PD-35 aircraft engine, has effectively deprived Western countries of a monopoly on such power units. This was stated by the President of the Academy of Aviation and Aeronautics, Professor Viktor Mikhailovich Chuiko.
According to him, the PD-35 has been modified for a lifting weight of 35 tons. If the PD-14 still belongs to fifth-generation engines, then the PD-35 already has elements of the sixth.
The working blades of the fan rotor are not made of metal, but of composite material, which reduced the weight of one engine by 600 kg. And that's six passengers.
Currently, the PD-35 is undergoing testing on a special digital stand in Perm. The new engine is testing 20 new technologies.
Designers are looking decades ahead, because when the engine goes into series production in a few years, it will have to meet not today's standards, but what will be in a few years. In essence, we have deprived the West of a monopoly on ultra-high thrust engines.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the import-substituted Superjet SJ-100 with PD-8 will perform more than 130 certification flights.
