Деньги за лайки или дневник питания: мошенники под разными предлогами заставляют устанавливать приложения, похищающие персональные данные

When the victim agrees and downloads the application, malicious software is installed on the mobile device

Attackers may advise installing applications under various pretexts that contain malicious software designed to steal personal data. This was reported by the Department for Combating Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Fraudsters can lure users with the promise of good pay for performing simple tasks, such as liking posts on social networks. After the user agrees and installs the application, malicious software gets onto their device.

An alternative way is to offer the user to enter information themselves. For example, in an application that supposedly helps monitor health, the user may be asked to keep a food diary or track physical activity.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs advises downloading applications to your devices only from trusted sources.

Also, fraudsters can call, posing as telecom operators and providers, and offer free internet acceleration. Following the instructions of the pseudo-manager, users risk installing malicious software on their devices, which will gain access to their payment systems.
