Scammers Offer "Help" to Victims of Fraud: How Not to Fall Victim to a New Scheme

Attackers offer to "return" lost money

The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has warned citizens about a new type of fraud in which attackers offer "help" to those who have already fallen victim to fraudsters. Scammers operate in chats where people share experiences and stories about fraud, promising to help recover lost money.

There are two main types of schemes. In the first, scammers masquerade as legal organizations and offer assistance in recovering lost funds. In the second scheme, they pose as acquaintances of fraudsters, promising to return the money for a small percentage. In both cases, victims risk losing even more funds, as the scammers have no intention of returning the money.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs strongly urges citizens to be careful and not to engage in communication with such "helpers", and also to report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
